Who's Next?

Guess who else will celebrate her birthday next month after Asher.

Yes, it's me. Our birthdays are just 10 days apart so after his party, it'd be me who will blow the birthday candles next. No, I won't be having a party and as always, we'll just have a little feast at home with my boys. That's actually what matters most to me. Even though I'm longing for a lot of material things like gadgets such as netbooks, lens for Nikky, a new mobile phone, etc - nothing beats the fulfillment that my family brings. As long as we're together, we're all healthy and blessed with so much love..I couldn't ask for more.

On Being Skinny.

Since my childhood days, I have always been on the “skinny” side. I am not sure if it’s quite a blessing then but I had my own dose of scolding from my folks – to eat plenty, take naps in the afternoon, drink vitamins, etc because they say being thin when you’re a kid comes with an impression of being almost malnourished. I did try overhauling my scrawny-look but probably, that’s just how my metabolism (and genes) works. There was even a point when I could consume two cups of rice a meal – yeah, a construction worker appetite – but the heaviest I weighed during my late teen years was just up to 100 lbs (average weight played around 90-95 lbs). I never passed beyond that. Diet, slimming teas, medicines and trainings, diet patch – those were never part of my vocabulary.

With my pregnancy and with Baby A developing inside me, it’s a milestone actually for me to see the scales hand whip up beyond 115 lbs. As of my last checking, I’m on my 118 lbs mark already. I’ve indeed gained a lot but a lot has been commenting that I still look “sexy” (thanks!) and lean despite the bulging tummy: in short, no pregnancy fats. Prolly, this is the time when I have to thank my metabolism and genes, at least, I won’t be having a hard time or will not undergo at all the stage of trimming down weight after I give birth.

I'm only 24% Vain.

In answer to MommyBa’s tag, here’s the result of the vanity quiz that I took. AND I’m not totally surprised with the results. Admittedly, I don’t have that much “kikay-ness” in my bones or should I say I’m not that meticulous when it comes to beauty and kikay stuffs. There are other pleasures that I’d rather insist on rather than splurging on these vanities and kikay stuffs.

You Are 24% Vain

Okay, so you're slightly vain from time to time, but you're not superficial at all.
You are realistic. You know that looks matter. You just try to make them matter less.

Random Beauty/Vanity/Fashion facts about me:
1. I do wear makeup but you can barely see it (very light). My makeup kit consists of unbranded powder/foundation, lipstick, eye shadow and cheek stain blush.
2. I occasionally shop for clothes. I just wait for pasalubongs brought by my stepmom from ukay-ukays in Saudi (usually Mango shirts that are on sale). When I go out, I’m most comfortable when I’m in a pair of jeans and a comfy top (shirt/blouse). I’m not fond of spaghetti straps, tubes, micro mini skirts, etc)
3. I just wash up my face with a local Facial Wash and a papaya soap (lolz). Other than that, nada! I’m so tamad na kasi to do those things and other beauty rituals at night haha!
4. I had my hair rebonded last year and just maintaining it with shampoo and conditioner. I know I should have treatment once in a while but my busy sched just doesn’t allow me to.
5. I wear perfume but I’m contented and I just depend on Dad’s perfume pasalubongs from Saudi. The one’s I’m using now is Ralph Lauren for Women.
6. I don’t grow my nails long and I don’t wear nail polishes.
7. I’m not a shoe fetish. I usually just have 2 pairs of footwears for gimiks..usually slip ons.
8. I have a hand lotion sanitizer that I frequently use.

Well, that’s it. That’s how simple I am and prefer to be that way. That is where I’m most comfortable and I believe naman, that’s the most important thing, di ba?
I’m tagging Litzie, Thet, Kathy, Nyree, Mhay, Jean and those who wants to tag themselves.

The Sentimental Me.

I have always been a sentimental person. I don’t know what’s in me that I am enamored with keeping things that are associated with a particular memory, person or event. I just can’t throw them away albeit how crap and junks they seem to be already. Back in my parents’ home in Makati, I still have with me boxes of little mementos that I kept since elementary and high school years. I still have the recollection and retreat letters, Christmas gift tags (and even ribbons!) & pictures I received from classmates, stationeries, birthday cards, movie and concert tickets, invitations, address books, official receipts (yes, I still have the Greenwhich Dapitan receipt dated March 12, 1996 – that’s where and when I treated my 2nd yr high classmates), plane tickets and hotel vouchers. I also have with me stacks of love letters and cards that Paul and I exchanged way back bf-gf days.

I don’t know for how long will I be like this..perhaps, until I grow old because Pisceans are innately romantic and sentimental persons.
