The Honeymoon Kwento (+ ratings)

Along with the wedding kwento..off I blab about our honeymoon getaway.

December is no doubt the "peakest" ever of all peak holidays we have throughout the year. We've started searching for and booking our honeymoon trip 3 months before the wedding. After hearing about Philippine Airlines' PALakbayan Packages (rates are just so irresistible), we placed our reservation right away with the help of my sister who used to work for a travel agency. To my dismay, we were like #34 on the waiting list. With a slim chance of getting a PALakbayan reservation, my sister sought her friend's help who works at Seair. We were finally booked with Seair via Caticlan and with a hotel accommodation at Lorenzo South from December 19-21. Package cost Php 23,500+ and is inclusive of airport transfers, free buffet breakfast and spa full body massage at the hotel.

Our verdict:
Boracay Island - 10++++
SouthEast Asian Airlines - 10
Lorenzo South - 10

Read on for the raves and some rants about our honeymoon:
We were still "wedding-high" when we woke up on our 3rd day as newlyweds. With my puffy eyes (yeah i cried on the 2nd night as I missed my family that soon hehe!), we headed to the airport to catch our 7:45 AM trip. We arrived at the airport at 6:35...the entrance line was jampacked of travellers and tourists that made me dubious if we'd be able to check in at 7 AM. It's a good thing the x-ray machines didn't bog down or else we might have missed the last call of check in time. We were then both Boracay virgins so we were really giddy..especially for Paul as it was his first time to ride a plane. The weather was sunny and fair (Metro Manila and South Luzon skies) and 40 minutes after take-off, we find ourselves marveling the shorelines of Boracay island and other Aklan islands. It was a low-tide morning (with cloudy skies as it just had rained) so we were carried by the kargadors on their shoulders towards the lantsa that will get us to Station 3 of Boracay Island. Unfortunately, we were met by big waves on the way to the boat kaya ayun..my undies got nearly soaked. grrrr!

On our 20-minute ride to the island, we marveled the beautiful sea of Aklan and of course the long strip of Boracay island from afar. We were dropped off at station 3 and off we went to check in at the hotel.

The staff were all accommodating and we were welcomed with a yummy iced tea and pearl necklaces. Despite some renovations going on, the picturesque of Lorenzo South is still magnificent. Ganda ng pagkakagawa. The hotel is on Bora's beachfront kaya lang fully bookedand occupied ang mga rooms on the first floor that's about 50 steps away from the beach. We checked the room and its amenities...approved naman lahat..walang defective. The room is cozy..malamig because of the aircon and the "bahay-kubo" style of the room's interior. Ganda ng view of the beach from the veranda but since we were on the 2nd floor, some coconut trees blocked the view. But nevertheless, ang presko.

We rested for a while, took pictures of ourselves, strolled on the sand and had early lunch at 10:30 AM. We headed to station 2 to search where we could eat and pasyal-pasyal na rin on the side. Didn't know that menu rates on Bora restos were that much. Grabe ha...nalula ako. On our first lunch, we had a big bowl of sinigang na bangus, lechon kawali, buttered vegetables, 4 cups of rice, 2 coke in cans for Php 400!!! Buti na lang it was yummy and it filled in our empty hungry tummies. Enough to give us energy to stroll the long walk to and from Station 3.

We headed back to the hotel right after eating to watch Wowowee as my balikbayan-TFC subscribers dad, stepmom, aunts, and cousins are on the show. We took a video of them on my phone as Willie let them greet. Katuwa kasi my cousin even greeted and we were special mentioned kaming cousins niya na nasa Boracay. I saw my dad and stepmom on TV with their own placards as they greeted their colleagues and neighbors in Saudi and our relatives in Pangasinan. Same with my aunts who are from California and Norway giving Willie some dollars and chocolate. Sayang lang as they didn't get in to play the Biga10. Nagready pa man din tatay ko ng sasabihin niya. Hehe!

It might be the puyat the night before that made us fall asleep while watching the TV. Sarap matulog. Paul waked me up in the afternoon and we strolled ulit to Station 2. Paul had his arm henna tattooed with a dragon while I had a butterfly tattoo on my back.

I also shopped na for pasalubongs along the way. I even thought of having my hair braided..kaso with my hair's length..ang mahal pala.

Dinnertime, pahirapan na naman maghanap ng makakainan...na mura. My feet and legs were aching from walking and ayun buti naman, we spotted a grill resto near Le Soleil and there we ate some grilled pork chop..(nagtipid talaga hehehe!) I think Bora is livelier pag gabi. Ang daming tao, loud music, bright lights and of course, partyyy. At siyempre since we were tired and exhausted, we headed back to the hotel na to have some party on our own...niyahahah!

On our day 2, Paul waked me up at 9:30 AM to have our free buffet breakfast. Hmm...the food's quite okay naman and they were generous. Daming choices and nirereplenish naman nila agad. After which we changed into our swimwears na and swimming galore kami sa beachline ng station 3. Super quiet ang station 3 as you would find mostly foreigners who were addictingly tanning theirselves under the sun. Unlike sa stations 1 and 2 where you could see na super daming nagswi-swim, sa station 3 ang konti talaga. Our 2nd day was sunny..sobrang init kaya it got me a little sunburned.

We hired a boat in the afternoon to get us to the snorkling area near the Crocodile Island. It surely has the shape of a croc, isn't it?

First time to snorkle. Water was somewhat cold. I didn't wander that much and di ako lumayo sa bangka...dunno.. i'm not really an underwater scene fanatic kahit na Piscean ako hehehe! Am afraid of other sea creatures that might sting me hehe! Pero am glad kasi I finally met Nemo! Yes nag-iisa lang siya nun and it really looked like lost.

We decided to get back to the other side of the island na and tour on bangka the whole strip of boracay island. The cloud's getting darker na rin because of the nearing sunset and it looked like it's going to rain. Katuwa kasi while boating, we would experience getting wet with the rain tapos a few rows ahead liliwanag at titigil ang rainshowers hehe cool! Medyo malaki din pala ang island and there's no way na i'll stroll the whole strip of it. Kapagod yun. We were heading back station 3 when we got this pic. Picture perfect of Boracay sunset!

Getting of the boat, we swam muna ulit ni Paul bago bumalik sa hotel para magbihis for dinner. Parang galit ang clouds :(

PC200270copy

We ate our dinner in a nearby buffet resto in station 3. We didn't head to station 2 pa kasi sakit na talaga ng mga legs ko. Ang cool kasi we had a candlelit dinner by the beach. Cool kasi Paul saw a couple snuggling and busy smooching each other on the sandy, dark and quiet side of the beachline. And it's much cooler to have the resto dog beside your table seemingly begging for food. He was nonetheless, maamo and quiet. He just sat near Paul slowly inching itself closer to the table. We were giving him some food naman kaso he was choosy pala. He only wants meat. Sosyal!

PC200278copy

The next day..di masyadong maganda ang weather. Fairly cloudy..kaya after eating breakfast, we headed to the beach and had a dip. Medyo maalon na siya and with the skies and clouds hovering the island...it's going to rain.

On we took a bath na and started to pack our things. Our flight back to Manila was at 4:30 pm pa but we have to check out at the hotel by 12 noon. We took our lunch first and finished shopping for Bora souvenirs and pasalubongs. We got back at the hotel by 12 noon and just made tambay on the lobby. While waiting for the boat that'd transfer us to the jetty port, we took pics muna. Medyo maulan na kaya di na kami masyado nakapagpicture-an sa beach.

We were at the airport by 2 pm. Since medyo matagal pa ang scheduled flight namin, the check-in counter person asked if we want to take the 3 pm flight as it still has vacant seats. Since we don't want to wait na rin for so long, we agreed. We were seated at the 2nd to the last row of the 21-seater plane where the door is adjacently placed. Since the aircraft is basically small, the sound of the plane's machine is nearly deafening. While we were flying, my heart was pumping fast as the rains and winds caused mild turbulence. Hehe! Nagulat ako to see rain water dripping sa adjacent door ng airplane. It must've really rained hard. Paul was seated by the window this time (as requested) pero malas niya, visayas weather was not cooperating. Buti na lang South Luzon skies were generous enough to let us see the ocean and mountains. We even saw Taal Volcano and took a pic of this...the Enchanted Kingdom. hehe! Minutes later, we were landing at the airport na. Tapos na pala honeymoon getaway..ka-sad :(

Kahit na limited ang budget at first, I was glad that we had our honeymoon at Bora. We were contemplating beforehand kung HK or Bora but since I have gone to HK a few years back, I preferred to have it in Bora para first time namin pareho. It's our first getaway na malayo so super enjoy kami. And of course, what made it more enjoyable and fun is that kaming 2 lang. Though we didn't get to exprience riding the banana boat or flying fish kasi nga mas enjoy to ride these in groups, oks lang. What's more fulfilling is marveling the beauty of a place together with the person you love most. I definitely enjoyed the long walks, dine outs, swimming, shopping and siyempre ending the day with your hubby beside you. :)
