Rapunzel has been locked in the tower since she was an infant, and her golden locks (that grow to a whopping 70 feet long) hold the key to the evil Mother Gothel's youth. She takes a passing thief hostage, and wants him to take her to the city that she has only seen from a distance. He acts as her guide all along their fun-filled journey.

I am super excited to see this movie. Disney rarely disappoints when it comes to animated movies, though their live action ones can be hit and miss. So, I honestly have no problem spending money on tickets, popcorn, sodas, candy, etc., because with Disney's track record when it comes to animated features, it's a pretty sure bet that my family will have fun.

Giving Back

Since 2010 has been very kind to our family and we have so much blessings to thank for, the husband and I are planning to donate some goods again this Christmas to an orphanage we’ve been supporting for many years now.  This is our simple way of saying thanks for all the blessings we’ve bountifully received.  We know that these are just material goods and won’t have a lasting and major impact to what they’re going through right now but we hope that somehow, we’ll be able to uplift their spirits in one way or another.  I really feel bad and sad for these homeless and disabled children but as we’re always reminded, faith heals.  They have a bright future ahead of them and even if these abandoned children feel incomplete and even if the incapacitated children will have to deal with handicapped signs all their lives, I believe that they will still find joy and peace in their hearts and that, they will realize still how fun it is to live.

New Look!

As you might have noticed, this blog has been sporting a new look.  I’ve changed it last week.  Needed to tweak the $idebar and since the old template I used didn’t support widgets and those new blogger template features, I had no choice but to forego my original template which I used for more than two years, I think.  I couldn’t let go of the header graphics though so that’s here to stay, perhaps, forever, or for as long as this blog (which is my first ever) exists. :)

Putting Together a Memory Chest

I'm excited. My latest project has been putting together a memory chest for my son. I'm actually making it out of a big, cool metal toolbox I found at the hardware store, and I'm happy to say he already loves it. I'm including his baby book, and as he outgrows his favorite toys we'll keep a few of them here to save. I've also included DVDs with pictures of his earliest days, even going back to my baby shower. Including things in digital format means we'll have to update it as the formats become obsolete, but I think it's still better to have it there--and it is probably still more secure than keeping it in hard copy. I've even included a CD of his favorite songs to go to sleep with. I love putting things into the memory chest, hoping that someday they will be things that my grandchildren love to see.

I think one of the most important things in a family is passing things down--not necessarily objects, although they can be helpful. More, I think it's important to maintain a sense of history, of roots, knowing where you've come from. I hope that some day my son will accept the ring his father used to propose to me, when he is ready to bring home his wife. I already know my husband is planning to replace it with a beautiful anniversary ring at some point, and I admit that I would be touched if there ended up being two Tacori engagement rings in the family. I've always felt mine was perfect--but, of course, whatever they want at the time should be respected. And it is so far away from now! I'm becoming one of those silly people who plans their child's life twenty years ahead.

Five Years

The husband and I will be celebrating our wedding anniversary next month.  As it’s gonna be our 5th year and as it should be extra special among all other past anniversary celebrations we’ve had, I’m having a hard time thinking of a new gimmick to pull off.  He loves surprises in the same way that I love surprising him.  In our previous anniversaries, I cooked up an out of town getaway, prepared his favorite meal for dinner and ordered flowers online and had them delivered in his office.  Who says flowers are for ladies only?  Flowers do not recognize gender and they are a great symbol of love that can be given to anyone.  I have already booked a special buffet dinner in one of the most raved hotel restaurants in the metropolis.  I’m still thinking what else can I surprise him with.

Five Packages in 3 Days

I’ve received five (5) packages in a span of 3 days.

I know..this is so NOT me.  But before you think I went overboard, let me just say that I didn’t order all of them at the same time.  One package was ordered 1 1/2 months ago through the kindness of my US-based friend.  It contained several clothing pieces for my boys and me from Old Navy’s sale and of course, my Christmas gift for myself..a DKNY watch.  All other loots are just small time purchases..replenishment supplies for my mineral makeup stash and 5 dresses from Facebook sellers each worth just a few hundred bucks.  Nevertheless, I got reminded by the husband who might have wondered how the receipt printer exhaustingly worked seeing the volume of my packages and the frequency of the delivery.  He warned me to “mellow” down a bit. 

*But hey, I tightened my belt for a long time and with all the hard blogging work I’ve done for this year, don’t I deserve to treat myself with a little shopping spree.*

Okay, that’s just me..reasoning out. Hehe!

With that and since I listen to the husband, I will be turning my “sapi” mode off.

Pink Wedding Gown

We’re invited to two weddings on December and January so I can certainly feel the wedding fever again.  Here in the Philippines, December is considered the wedding month because of the numerous couples each year preferring to get wed in this time of the year.  

Speaking of weddings, I wonder what’s the latest craze and trends nowadays.  In the past few years, I’ve heard about a white and black themed wedding, a wedding reception taking place at Mcdonald’s and all other unique wedding knick knacks and add-ons.  I bet this gown from Oscar de la Renta's Fall '11 collection will be a sure hit to pink lover brides out there. 

It’s lovely, yes, but I don’t see it as a fabulous change from white.  Just my two cents.
