Declutter

Once everything’s settled and we’ve fully adjusted with the new baby, I’ll take on the numerous home improvement projects that have been waiting for completion for quite some time now.  We have so many junks lying around and top of my to-do list is to clean and store them in proper places.  I’ve already ordered enough storage boxes and they’re just awaiting to get organized.  Another in my list is to fix the visible cables in the entertainment area of the living room.  They have become an eyesore and a cable cover is the best remedy I could think of.

Laser Cutting Technology

Laser cutting has become a popular technology utilized in many industries.  This is because of its ease of use and the amount of perfection achieved out of the process.  The laser technology aims to make work easier by cutting out any particular design that will be very difficult or even impossible when done manually or by using any other means.  The electronics industry has shifted to lead free compliance thus with the wide usage of a Lead Free Solder.  This is among the several laser and material technology advancements that Fine Line Stencil is proud of.  With over 15 years of technical expertise, they have proven that they are the leader in producing the highest quality laser stencils in the industry.

Fancied Toy

Little girls (and even little boys) will surely want to have this for Christmas.

I remember that I fancied this mini-kitchen set very much during my pre-schooling years.  I so envied a friend who has a complete set of kitchen tools and a counter that’s even bigger than her.  She even had a complete doctor tools toy set on a cart (similar to those Howard-Medical.com healthcare carts featured on the site).   She actually had a lot of toys that would always be a subject of envy for most of us.  Since my frugal parents wouldn’t give in to my constant bugging, I just pacified myself and was contented borrowing them from her.  Good thing, she has a kind heart and willingly shared her toy to us.

The Month of Weddings

On this day 6 years ago, I was having wedding jitters as it was just a month away before our wedding.  We were very hands on with our preps: we DIY-ed almost all of the stuff that we could.  Planning our wedding was one rollercoaster ride but I enjoyed every task we undertook.

December is just 2 weeks away and as we know, it’s the month of weddings here in the country.  So I’m pretty sure that churches and reception venues will be pretty packed especially on weekends and that wedding suppliers such as coordinators, photographers, cake artists, makeup artists, florists, etc will be up and about…and of course, richer. Hehe!

Actos Cancer Law Firm

Just by hearing that someone got diagnosed or just died because of the Big C, it’s already heart-wrenching.  How much more if it’s a loved one, a friend or someone from the family.  That’s why I can just imagine the wrath of those relatives or the patients themselves, that after being prescribed with Actos, a medicine used to treat Type II Diabetes, has suddenly acquired Bladder Cancer.  Recent studies have shown that Actos increases cancer risk in a patient after prolonged use.  No wonder patients or their loved ones would really exhaust all means to get justice by consulting an actos cancer law firm so they can file for claims and damages.

Unique Wedding Proposal Ideas

I’m a sucker for romantic wedding proposals.  Even though I’ve already been married for 6 years now, I still get swooned every time I witness unique and fairy tale-like wedding proposals.

Here are some of the unique wedding proposal ideas that would surely merit your girl’s sweet “yes!”:

1.  Publish your proposal on a full-page ad in a newspaper that your girl reads daily.

2.  Have a skywriter spell your proposal up in the sky for everyone to see.

3.  Make your own podcast proposal and sneak it onto her iPod.

Check out The Knot for more of these unique ideas.

Luscious Eyelashes

Enhanced eyelashes are one of the facial features that are prominent and most noticeable. Thick, long and luscious lashes have been desired by many and this fascination even dates back to ancient times. Remember how gorgeous Cleopatra looks with her attractive lashes? There are so many ways and tools now how to achieve luscious lashes. There are eyelash extensions, mascara, eyelash growth serum, eyelash stimulator, eyelash conditioner. A new eyelash growth product is also introduced in the market every now and then. So when beautifying one's self, remember that the eye makeup is not only limited to applying eye shadow, mascara and refining the brows. Pay attention also to your eyelashes as luscious lashes enhance further the face.

Christmas: The Season of Overeating

Christmas is nearing once again. That means that the season of food feasting and overeating is also upon us. As we are reminded frequently, we must make sure that we eat just right and moderately. We may be enjoying loads of delectable Christmas foodies like ham, lechon, and other fatty foods but are we prepared to face the consequence it brings? Loading on cholesterol endangers the health tremendously. Of course, nobody wants to get sick and be erroneously prescribed with Crestor which is a drug to treat high cholesterol or other cardiovascular diseases then filing later on a Crestor lawsuit, right? It has recently been discovered that this drug has harmful side effects. So before we come to that point when we blame ourselves at the end, we must be disciplined and practice self-control not only during the Holidays but all year through.

Teeth Braces

Browsing this particular job search site that features openings for Orthodontist Jobs made me reminisce the time I was wearing braces during my teenage years. I remember that I frequented my dentist's clinic every month because it had to be adjusted every now and then to correct my misaligned teeth. Often, the colors of the rubbers that are worn on each bracket depends on the season. Like for December, I had a green and red combination set of rubbers in time of the Christmas season. Then had an all red brackets on the month of February for Valentines. This is the part that I miss with wearing braces. But other than that, I abhor the pain that came along with it. I couldn't eat anything except for soups after every adjustment. Mefenamic acid used to be a staple inside my bag to stop the pain. But after taking it off, I could say that it's worth every pain. Now I can smile and show off my beautifully aligned teeth proudly.

He’ll Surely Want These

I’m pretty sure that if Asher sees these inviting pictures, he’ll be over the moon and excitedly say that he wants to have and play with them.  He’ll go say in his sweetest voice.. “Mommy, buy mo ako pleassseeee”.

These are from Little Tikes, by the way, and they’re having an all month long sale for these toys for the the month of October.  How I wish I have that much moolah so that I can grant the little one’s wish in a jiffy. : sigh :

But it looks like Asher will have something to look forward to this coming Christmas.  The husband said that he’s planning to buy the little one a basketball set as his Christmas gift for this year.  He has greatly noticed how Asher has been so into basketball these days, shooting small balls to any opening he sees.  He also loves borrowing his Dad’s basketball and we’re surprised that he can already dribble!  His Daddy was pleased because being a basketball fanatic himself, he’d definitely want Asher to grow up athletic bringing home sport trophies and making us proud!  He said that he might buy him a set that's adjustable (height) so that Asher can play with it for a long time.

Backup Day

Today, I declare that it’s a Backup Day.  Well, I’m pertaining to my stash of digital photos saved in my laptop and external hard disk, that is.  This is one task I’ve been delaying for so long and now that I’m about to give birth, I need to free up the memory of our cameras and video camera to give way to the new abundant photos that will surely be taken once the new baby arrives.  Further, our pictures taken from November of last year onwards haven’t still backed up in DVDs so that’s primarily what I’ll do.

I’ve also unearthed some old photos of my childhood that I wish to scan and save it digitally.  These  photos are so precious as they remind me of my childhood years.  There’s even one photo of me taken beside our very old analog tv!  I thought that I’d never recover these photos again.  Glad I found them.

Christmas Countdown

Santa’s official countdown says…

There are only 74 days until Christmas!

I bet everyone is as excited as me.  Christmas is my most favorite time of the year because it’s indeed a season when the feeling of joy and warmth can be genuinely felt.  Everyone’s on a happy mood.  Parties, get-togethers, gift-giving, family vacations, lovely Christmas trees even if it’s just adorned with cheap christmas lights..I just love everything about Christmas.

Here at home, we’re welcoming Christmas early by putting up our Christmas tree so soon.  Yes, that’s just how excited we are.  And we couldn’t be more excited because we’re celebrating the Holidays with a new baby addition, our darling Little A, who will be arriving in a few weeks or perhaps just days time.

It’s never early to start shopping for Christmas decors for your homes.  In fact, it’s highly advisable to buy as early as now before the prices jack up after the Halloween.  For a wide array of Christmas decors like Christmas trees, Inflatables and other Christmas trinkets, Deals Direct is the site to browse.  Here are some of the lovely decors up for sale:

Our Primary Love Language

Last week, a friend of mine shared an online quiz in which one would be able to know his or her Love Languages for his significant other.  According to the author of the book Gary Chapman, there are five key love languages among the countless ways we can show love.  These are the Words of Affirmation, Quality Time, Receiving Gifts, Acts of Service, and Physical Touch.  Everyone of us has a love language and there’s one language that’s predominant among all others.

I took the test here and likewise requested the husband to do the same.  Here are our results:

imageThe result to mine is not surprising at all because I know that I’m more of the “touchy” type.  Here’s what Gary Chapman says about Physical Touch:

This language isn’t all about the bedroom. A person whose primary language is Physical Touch is, not surprisingly, very touchy. Hugs, pats on the back, holding hands, and thoughtful touches on the arm, shoulder, or face—they can all be ways to show excitement, concern, care, and love. Physical presence and accessibility are crucial, while neglect or abuse can be unforgivable and destructive.

All along I thought, the husband’s was Acts of Service.  So I was surprised to know that his is also Physical Touch.  Perfectly compatible, huh?

Anyway, take note that the lowest score we both have is the Receiving Gifts.  That only means that we’re both very easy to please, we’re not that materialistic and purchases of luxurious LV bags nor expensive Asus Tablet PC aren’t needed just to show our love for each other.  Simple, sweet surprises actually matter more for us. :)

Online Casino: His New Fascination

If you're going to ask my brother what's the smartest invention mankind has ever discovered, I'm sure he will answer in jest, the internet! He has never stayed online as much as he is doing recently. His laptop hasn't rested for ages now, I think. But before that he used to be addicted playing poker with his friends. They would hang out until the break of dawn in a friend's house and play all night long. It's their bonding session, actually. Because of sheer fascination, one time, he told me that his ultimate dream is to fly to Las Vegas. He wants to experience how is it like to play poker in one of the renowned hotel casinos and he said in confidence, that he will rake in a huge amount of winnings.

I just let him yak and yak...and feed his own mind with fantasies. It's free to dream anyway, right?

Seriously, I told him that he doesn't have to go to Las Vegas just to play poker and all those casino games that he fancies. He can actually play all of them right at the comfort of our home via the internet. An Online Casino is the in thing nowadays. Facebook surely has its application Texas Hold 'Em Poker but actually, there are other equally fun online casinos to play on. Check out an online casino review and see what I'm talking about.

Back to my brother, I was surprised when just days after, he was thanking me for being an "angel" to him..of referring those online casino listings. Now, he no longer goes out of the house but instead, he's spending most hours of his day in front of his laptop. He got his friends into playing their poker tournament on the web, too. They still hang out until the wee hours of the morning but just through this virtual thing. At least, we won't be worrying anymore, especially our Mom, during the ungodly hours thinking where he could be since he's right at our very home. The only downside is that, our electricity bill that has significantly increased.

Wedding Money Dance

image

The money dance has been a wedding tradition for many years now.  It is a part of the wedding reception program where guests get to wish good fortune upon their marriage by pinning money bills or dollar bills (thus, it’s also called the “dollar dance”) on their clothing as they dance.  This usually comes simultaneously after the couple’s first dance and the other traditional dances (Father-Daughter Dance and Mother-Son Dance).  Some find this practice tacky so they no longer include it in the program.  But for some, they see it as a tradition and it’s actually fun.  Any amount will actually do.  You need not pin huge amount of bills nor give rare morgan dollars.  The couple would surely appreciate the thoughtfulness and help as they start their married lives together.

Serious About Losing Weight

I’m impressed how the husband seems to know a lot about a certain food’s nutritional facts these days.  I think he’s really seriously taking the Weight Loss Contest/Program (ala-Big Loser style) in their workplace.  Ever since it started, he has become informational and doing trivia about the food that we eat.  It’s from him that I learned that crackers have 100 calories and it’s equivalent to a cup of rice already.  He also has become preachy about saturated fats and also shared his latest know how about fat burners.  Well, I wish him luck.  Hope he becomes successful in his pursuit to lose weight and that, their team wins the contest.

Monday Plans Went Awry

We would have been in Trinoma right now feeling full from a gastronomic pizza lunch if the pizza voucher I ordered from Cashcashpinoy is valid for use today.  Perhaps, we would also have been shopping, taking advantage of sales as our eyes are glued on the Retail POS System monitor gasping over the amount just charged on our credit cards.  We were supposed to use my Cashcashpinoy California Pizza Kitchen vouchers today as they’re due to expire on the 31st.  We figured that since we’ve got nothing to do at home today (a special holiday), we planned to have our lunch there today.  But lo and behold, when I went over the voucher fine print details last night, it said that they are not valid on special holidays.  So there goes the cancellation of the original plan.  We reset the lunch date and instead we’re going to use the vouchers on Wednesday, the last day of the voucher’s validity.  Buzzer beater, huh?

Filing an Actos Lawsuit

If you know of someone who has Diabetes, specifically the Type 2, better check the oral medicines he’s taking.  Recent studies have shown that Actos, a drug for Type 2 Diabetes, caused harmful effects to those who have taken it.  They experienced heart attacks, heart failure, and an increased risk of bladder cancer.  This drug has been pull out from the market already.  But for those who have taken this in the past, be aware that you are entitled to file an Actos lawsuit against the manufacturer of the drug and claim for damages.  You may contact Actos Injury Lawyers – the O'Hanlon, McCollom & Demerath for the appropriate legal assistance.

Wedding Proposal Ideas

I'm such a sucker for weddings. And since marriage proposals come first before it, I'm such a sucker too for romantic and unique proposals. For the guys, remember that it doesn't matter if the engagement ring is expensive or not, what matters most is your sincerity on how true and how much getting married to that particular person means so much to you.
Here are some ideas I compiled and stumbled upon on the internet:

1. During a special dinner, pop out three roses: Tell her one represents the past, one represents the present, and the last one (with a lovely everlon ring tied or tucked in it) represents the future.

image

2. If you have a parrot, train it to say, "Will you marry me?" And make a big show with the new words he has learned -- at a romantic moment.

3. If she is a school teacher, you could propose with all the school listening. Get permission from the school principal. Record a videotaped proposal and play it over the school video system, or make an announcement over the intercom. Then go to her classroom and give her the diamond with everyone cheering.

4. You can also buy a space on the newspaper and stage your proposal in an ad style.

5. Stage a treasure hunt. Provide her clues leading to the ultimate treasure which is the ring.

Happy Birthday Ate!

My elder sister is celebrating her birthday today.  Too bad we won’t be able to see her tonight since it’s a weekday and there’s no one who can drive us to my parents’ house in Makati where she’s staying.  I wonder what they’ll have for dinner tonight.  I sent her a text message and replied that she’s busy with work and feels sickly so perhaps, she and our little brother will just have some pizza delivery to celebrate with.  Probably, we can drop by on Sunday and give her a cake or something.  These ed hardy ladies' watches I’m looking at now are all lovely and I bet, she’ll be ecstatic to receive a piece.  Happy Birthday to my lovely sister!

HS Graduation Gift

Graduation is one of the most exciting and awaited events of a student.  For a High School student, it’s a surreal and momentous feeling because not only it’s the time when his hard work during the secondary years are acknowledged but more so, it’s an important milestone in his schooling life.  It is the passage into a higher level of education which is college.  For the parents, seeing their kids graduate from high school make them so proud and relieved.  To reward the hard labor of their kids, a high school graduation gift will surely be appreciated and be thanked for.  The options are various: from luxurious gadgets, travel, laptops and computers, cameras, jewelries to simple tokens such as special food treat, a book, bag, etc.  It doesn’t matter really how expensive or how big or small the item is, the fact that you’re tapping their back for a job well done and acknowledging the hard work toiled is already a big and symbolic gift.

Me: The Surprise Giver

Paul is not the type who would come up and stage surprises…which is just okay for me because basically, I’m the one who loves giving surprises especially during our “going steady” younger years.  I’d rather be the giver, than the receiver.  It gives me a different high whenever I see the delight and surprise in his eyes.  For several Valentines, I’ve had flowers (in every color except pink roses), teddies and chocolates delivered in his office.  I’m the happiest when he buzzes me and thank me profusely for the surprise he has just received.  There were rare instances when the husband attempted to stage surprises for me but he never succeeded…why? Because he’s not good in keeping his own secret.  He always spoils his own plan and being the inquisitive and nosy me, I always discover his gimmick ahead even before he can stage it.

Chuzzle Addiction

image

Chuzzle may have been existing for so long (as a PC game and on other ordis platform) but it’s only now that I got addicted to this game..not on the PC though but on my iPhone.  This has been my instant boredom buster and my companion while waiting for sleep to visit me at night.  This game is really addicting and I like best the Speed (Expert) Mode where I have to slide, prod and nudge chuzzles under a limited time.  Every time I play, I’ve been competing with myself as I aim to beat the high scores I’ve set.

This is a PopCap game and is available for purchase at the Itunes store for just $2.99.

Heavy Rains, Stop!

Despite the heavy rains, the husband still was so every eager to come to work.  I was coaxing him to just work from home but the very dutiful and dedicated employee in him decided still to report for work.  I can’t help but worry because the heavy rains and strong winds are just too strong.  His umbrella isn’t enough to keep him dry.  Plus, floods are everywhere and this might just get him stranded on the road.  He didn’t bother bringing the car because it’s much more a hassle if the situation gets worse.  I really wish he just stayed at home.  I won’t be pacified until I see him home safe and sound.

Hope the heavy rains will stop now.  Let’s all just stay indoors.  Don’t bother braving the streets as it’s just too dangerous even if your rv has rv insurance, it’s better to stay put and safe.

A Newlywed’s Wealth Management Plan

After the big wedding day, the newlyweds finally face the reality that they are on their own now and about to start a new life together.  Their financial future is among one of the most important topics that they have to discuss which include saving options, insurance, property ownership, money management, etc.  An wealth management plan should be formed and put in place to ensure the financial security of the family they’re starting to build.  This may be a little complex for a starter but newlyweds can turn to a Missoula, MT wealth management group for guidance on this very delicate matter.  The Eichwald | Fritch Wealth Management Group, part of D.A. Davidson & Co., provides financial services assistance to individuals and businesses in providing an integrated approach to arriving at an effective and realistic wealth management plan.  This often covers the following facets: investments, cash flow, insurance, debt, retirement and real estate plans.  Most marital problems are rooted in money problems but if they are checked in place even before they appear, marital bliss and harmony will be achieved.

New Smartphone

When we went to Singapore last week, two of the destinations that my Brother-in-law headed to were the Sim Lim Square and Funan Mall, two renowned shopping centers where cheap electronics and gadgets abound. He was so keen to buy an iPad 2. The price would have been a lot cheaper compared to selling prices here in Manila or in Qatar however, stocks are extremely low. This triggers the sellers to peg it at higher prices..(read: the law of supply and demand). He decided that he’ll buy it in Qatar instead since the rates are almost the same. He just bought a new smartphone, (I forgot which htc sense model). He got for just about SGD800+ inclusive of 7% GST which he was able to refund at the airport before our departure.

Lingerie for the Plus Sized Women

Who says lingerie is only for the petite or slim figured lady and that full figured women do not have the right to wear one? Gone are the days when the lingerie is manufactured in small or standard sizes. Search online lingerie stores and you’d find that there’s a ton of full figure lingerie options perfect for every size. Such sizes are also available in mall shops and department stores but why waste time, money and energy going to the mall when you can order with just one click online? Just research and dig around the web and you’d find that perfect plus sized lingerie that will flatter and accent each and every curves you’ve got.

Champions!

One of the basketball tournaments that the husband’s basketball team joined ended the other week and guess who emerged as the champion..it’s none other than their team!  I was all smiles when he texted me that they won by just two points via a buzzer beater shot by his teammate.  I wasn’t able to watch their championship game since it was scheduled so late and it’s just impossible for us to brave the traffic towards Mandaluyong at 10 pm.  Nevertheless, I prayed for their success and supported their team in spirit.  Before each game, I always remind the husband to play safely and stay away from injuries.  He’s been complaining about a minor pain on his left knee and this worried me because I have heard stories about players needing a knee brace for torn acl.  ACL stands for Anterior Cruciate Ligament and it’s one of the four major ligaments of our knees.  Athletes usually suffer from torn acl due to straining lateral rotational sports movements.  This requires surgery and complete rest for several months for the ligament to completely heal and rehabilitate.  Glad that this isn’t the case for the husband as the pain’s now gone and could have just been a minor muscle strain or that sort.

Enrolling in a Beauty School

A beauty school is what one considers if she’s artistic and wants a non-regular college program.  Cosmetology courses such as those offered by Regency Beauty Institute which has a Columbia beauty school branch, are typically short termed and it can be finished within 9-12 months.  With that, they can find jobs right after they graduate in top salons and earn a decent pay immediately.  There isn’t much requirements before entering a beauty school.  No need to take the SAT exam or whatsoever.  You just have to be at least 18 years of age and hold a high school diploma or GED.  The curriculum involves typical classroom lectures and the more exciting part, the hands on training or the clinical work in an actual salon which the campus usually has.

This blog post was based on information provided by Blogitive. For more information, please visit Blogitive.com or contact Regency Beauty Institute – 260T Harbison Boulevard, Columbia, SC 29212

Productive Saturday

Just two more then I’m done for the day.  I’ve been pretty productive today (just like yesterday) so even though I won’t  be able to finish all other writing assignments as I’ve initially aimed, I’m still satisfied to have been able to finish a looooot.  Sorry to flood your Google Reader with my feeds from all of my 11 blogs.  Can’t stay further because it’s getting pretty late already and this preggy mommy needs to rest after a hard day of work. :)

Go For Bridal Flats Shoes

Most brides choose high heeled shoes for their shoe ensemble.  Perhaps because they find it sexier or they want to appear taller.  But the truth is brides should choose a pair of bridal shoes that are comfortable and work well with the gown.  The ceremony and reception will be very tiring and involves walking up and about.  Walking in high heeled shoes can get the bride exhausted and feel uncomfortable and therefore can’t enjoy a what’s supposed to be a grand and merry day.  Not unless your high heeled shoes are heavenly and assures 110% comfort, go for bridal flats instead.

Suri Cruise Has a $150,000 Worth of Shoe Collection

Do you know that Suri Cruise owns over $150,000 worth of shoes?  What a lucky 5 year old child she is!  I wonder how much more worth of shoes she’ll own when she reach her teenage or adult years.  Millions worth perhaps.

Sustained a Bad Injury

I’m deeply saddened by a news that reached us last week.  A friend of ours just met an accident in the US and sustained a bad injury.  Good thing, it isn’t that worst so it’s expected that he’ll be able to recover well soon.  Right now they’re running after the one who caused the accident and the first step they did was to contact an Austin Personal Injury Lawyer from the law firm of O’Hanlon, McCollom & Demerath – Personal Injury Lawyers – 808 West Avenue, Austin, TX. 78701 – 512-494-9949.  They’ve got positive feedbacks and raves how great, skilled and professionals the attorneys from this firm are so they’re confident that they’ll win and be able to recover claims and damages from the person who caused him harm.

Wedding Hairstyles and Facial Shapes

When planning your dream wedding look for the big day, it’s important not just to focus on your skin and age spots but on knowing your facial shape as well to determine the appropriate hairstyle to complement it.  Having the right hairstyle will further bring out the radiance that exudes from within.  How to determine the shape of your face?  Look straight into the mirror and pull back your hair.  With a lip liner, trace on the mirror the outline of your face.  Whatever shape that closely resembles the outline is your face’s shape: oval, round, square, heart.

Here are some wedding hairdos suited for each shape:

1.) Oval – goes well with most hairstyles: soft cascading curls or complicated up do.  Just avoid piling the hair up on top as this will make the face look narrower and longer or heavy fringes that cover the face.

2.) Round – Hair down with long or wavy tresses, off-center part, side swept bangs or high wedding up do’s are great for this facial shape.

3.) Square – To soften the sharp jaw lines of squared face brides, a hairstyle that frames the face with wisps of hair or parting the hair on the side will look great.

4.) Heart – Wispy bangs or hair framing the face looks good on heart shaped brides.  No pulled back hair as this will just emphasize the forehead’s broadness.

Medical Alarm Devices

We abhor getting involved or any of our loved ones with any medical emergency especially when we leave them at home.  Whenever I had to leave the house without my son, I always make sure that his nanny knows what to do when an emergency arises.  In the cases of the elderly, a medical alarm device has been a popular solution for the peace of mind of the loved ones.  This system consists of a two-way voice communicator and medical alert bracelet which the user can easily press or tinker when a something emergency comes up.  LifeCall is a company that has been founded in 1989 and catering top notch and practical medical alarm devices to senior residential, assisted living and retirement communities.  These medical alarm devices are not just ordinary gadgets…they are life-saving tools.

Movies and novels about anything wedding related catches my attention.  I’m fascinated perhaps because I experience being a bride myself some few years back.  Albeit stressful, I definitely enjoyed the adventures and misadventures of our one year wedding preparations then.  Most of all, it’s so fun and overwhelming getting married and seeing your long time dream unfolding.

I have recently got hooked with collecting ebooks of chick lit books in my reader.  I’ve scoured the web and these are the top 10 must haves bride lits according to chicklitclub.com.  I’m really thankful for iBooks, organizing and storing them is as easy and secured as a Dokmee document management software.  Now I’m off to secure all these titles.

My Favorite Motherhood Quote

“I never knew how much my heart could hold until someone called me ‘Mommy’”.

That’s one of my favorite quotes of motherhood and I can just so relate ever since I had my little Asher.  The moment I learned that we’re anticipating a little miracle, I made a promise that from then on, everything I’d do, I’d be extremely careful for the sake of the little being inside my womb.  I followed my doctor’s orders, avoided all the things I was instructed to get away from, to not take any medications without my doctor’s go signal and all those things.  There are several drugs and medications in the market that are dangerous for the baby in the womb.  Nobody wants to endure the pain that Mommies who are pushing Topamax birth defect lawsuit in court are experiencing.  These are the Moms who have taken Topamax but where unaware of the side effects of the drug due to the manufacturers’ failure to disclose.

Happy Birthday!

Somebody’s celebrating his 30th birthday this weekend and Asher and I are so excited about it.  We have already planned where to go and eat on Saturday and Sunday.  Yes, it’ll be a 2-day affair for the most loving, caring and responsible Dad and the greatest husband in the whole world.  As for the gift, well I initially thought of buying him an xbox (complete with accessories xbox 360 controller) but he has a special request.  We’re yet to buy it in the mall on weekend as I can’t order them myself.  Advance happy birthday, Daddy! We love you so much!

Steroids

When my son had an asthma attack and was prescribed by his pulmonologist with a corticosteroid, I kinda got worried because I thought that he has to drink the “dangerous” type of steroids.  I made my research right away and was appeased that a corticosteroid is not similar and not even close to an anabolic steroid.

The steroids which are often associated with the dangerous type are synthetic substances that are used to enhance muscle growth and develop male sexual characteristics.  Typically, they are prescribed by doctors to treat certain conditions like delayed puberty and impotence.  It’s not at all bad.  It only becomes dangerous when people abuse it which is what’s happening and very prevalent among sportsmen, bodybuilding enthusiasts and athletes.  I’ve recently read that certain supplements like tren xtreme were known to have anabolic steroids as their content.  The manufacturer says they have reformulated it though.  Nevertheless, those wishing to build muscles should still be careful in selecting the right supplement.

MA Degree

I’m so proud of a former college classmate who’s now in the US to pursue her graduate studies dream.  She worked in the corporate world for about 5 years after college graduation to save up for an educational fund.  After much effort and persistence, she has just recently enrolled herself in a prestigious university where she can finally earn her MA degree in Business.  She also has high hopes to right away snag one of the columbus jobs she’s been eying for ages now.  Wishing her all the best.

Topamax Lawsuit

I was about to go offline a few minutes ago when I stumbled upon an interesting news about a Topamax lawsuit filed just recently.  My attention was caught because it’s a case filed by a mom who has just given birth to a baby with a birth defect and was said to be caused by a prescribed medication she took for migraine while pregnant.  The manufacturer failed to include the side effects on its label that it may cause to fetuses – birth defects like cleft palate or cleft lip.  The personal injury lawyers are now taking charge of the lawsuit filed and they are positive that they will be able to claim the liability damages they are demanding.

Palabok Craving

I think it’s official..my second baby’s ultimate craving is pansit palabok (seasoned with calamansi and topped with plenty of sliced eggs).  I’ve had enough servings of this these past few days and weeks and at this very hour, I’m very much yearning to have a taste of this yummy delight.  Too bad, the husband’s now sleeping (and snoring) I can’t “command” him to get or buy me one.  Lucky him.

PDA

Last weekend, we had an impromptu swimming getaway in a nearby resort.  The little one had a blast swimming in the pool and he was unstoppable.  He refused to get out of the water.  While he and his Dad was having a fun time in the pool, I just enjoyed having a food trip while watching them from our cottage.  I also entertained myself looking at a group of young teenagers with their corresponding sweethearts snuggling and kissing all at the same time.  Kissing…not just a peck on the cheek but about ten seconds long lip-locked type of a kiss.  Geez, I bet their parents do not know what they were engaging to that time.  They’re all very young (HS looking guys and gals) and it’s really disturbing to see them being so that affectionate in public.

A Mom’s Worry

I remember that I literally cried the moment I saw blood in my undies while I was 6 months pregnant with Asher. I was really worried and thought that I’d lose him. I was confined in the hospital due to threatened abortion and thank God we both recovered well and I delivered him at the right time perfectly healthy and normal a few months later. It was a nerve-wracking experience actually so I can also understand a mom’s worry learning that the Topamax she was prescribed could lead to dangerous side effect to her baby. The manufacturers are now facing multitude of Topamax lawsuit for their “off label” promotions and for failing to disclose the side effects of the drugs to pregnant women.

So Into Sports

It seems that Asher will be a sports-minded kid just like his Daddy who grew up playing and hooked into many sports.  He loves playing basketball, boxing (yes, he knows and imitates Manny Pacquiao’s moves), soccer, golf and now, badminton.  He has this toy racket that we bought from the talipapa that he would love to play with every afternoon.  It comes with a shuttlecock and 2 ping pong balls.  If we only have a ping pong table, I bet he’d love to learn table tennis, too.  Well, being hooked into sports is actually good.  Next summer, we’ll definitely enroll him in a sports clinic.

Being Prepared All The Time

Having a health insurance is indeed like having a security blanket.  You can sleep at night soundly not worrying about the future should you or any of your family members get sick and you don’t have budget to spare.  If you’re employed like in the US for example, a Medicare plan is also a great benefit that they can take advantage once an emergency arise.  Of course, nobody wants to get ill at any time but since it’s inevitable, it’s better to be prepared all the time.

Acne and Pregnancy

Acne and pregnancy usually goes hand in hand.  That’s why I wasn’t surprised anymore when my face started to have zits all over it.  It is said that the estrogen level is increasing and this exactly causes the skin to become extra oily. Oily skin is consequently susceptible to acne and pimples. So if you’re pregnant and have zits all over the face, chest and back, do not right away seek acne remedy because of the toxicity of the prescription drug.  It may be very harmful to the developing baby to your womb.  Instead, just let it be as they will vanish on their own in due time.

Halted Travel Plans

Our recent Boracay trip entailed me and my companions free one way ticket to any local destination courtesy of Cebu Pacific.  It’s actually a sorry-for-the-inconvenience-gift because our supposedly Caticlan-bound flight at 9:25 am was cancelled and we were redirected to a Kalibo flight instead about a couple of hours later.  We were of course disappointed but got a little excited of the free ticket because that means we’d be in for another group getaway.  We were thinking of a Bohol vacation some time this year and we even agreed that we’d start waiting for seat sale alerts so we can book our flight back home at a discounted deal.  With that we’d get to travel without spending much.  But plans are put on hold (for me and Paul at least) because we just learned that we’re pregnant.  Meaning, I may not be in my most comfy state to travel.  Further, we need to save for the hospital and delivery expenses so a travel budget is set at zero.  Perhaps, we’d just be contented for now looking at pictures of favorite destinations like Oceanfront vacation rentals.  We'll just pass up the trip opportunity for now but definitely, we’ll go on a trip with our travel buddies some other time, hopefully next or in two years time.

Injured at the Workplace

I was just informed that a friend of ours got into an accident at her workplace.  The details weren’t that clear but all I know is that she was rushed to the hospital and right now, she’s recuperating from a minor surgery conducted earlier this afternoon.  The injury isn’t that painful and serious but I heard that she’s seething in anger because the accident was brought about by somebody else’s carelessness and could have been prevented from happening.  She’s considering to call an Austin personal injury lawyer from O’Hanlon, McCollom & Demerath – Personal Injury Lawyers – 808 West Avenue, Austin, TX. 78701 – 512-494-9949, a firm that provides a superior client service and legal representation for victims of personal injuries caused by third parties.  I sincerely wish she recovers well and get what is due.

Monte Cristo Cigars

I didn’t know that there such a thing called monte cristo cigars or should I say I am not aware that there are so many kinds and brands of cigars out there.  Pardon this ignorance because no one in our household smokes.  That’s why when I read that brand somewhere in a middle of a magazine page I was reading earlier, I was startled.  The first thing that came into my mind was the book the Count of Monte Cristo.  I thought it was probably named after that book. Hehe.

Speaking of smoking, even though it’s seemingly portraying a “manly” thing, I’m really glad (and proud) that the husband isn’t doing or hasn’t even tried it.  Personally, it’s not only a waste of money but more importantly, it shortens everyone’s lives because of the harmful smoke it emits.  Actually, as experts put it, second hand smoking is even more dangerous than first hand smoking.

Take Extra Precaution

A friend met an accident a couple of months ago and I am sort of updated with his recuperation through Facebook.  Recently, he posted a picture of a 2-inch screw that the doctors implanted (and removed after few weeks) in his ankle.  His ankle was badly injured that he’s needing a series of operations plus a year time of complete recovery and therapy.  I’m not sure but there’s a huge possibility that he’ll be needing ankle braces thereafter.  My heart goes to him for all the pain he has to endure.  By the way, he got hit by a car while crossing the pedestrian lane so this is a big lesson to all of us.  To take really extra precaution when crossing the street.

A Drugstore at Home

Since the little one and I are undergoing a long term medication, our medicine box is so full that the husband coins it as “Mercury Drugstore”.  Bottles of vitamins and antibiotics line up and there’s no even enough space anymore for his multivitamins.  No wonder he’s sarcastically joking.  Well, I just hope that there will be no more additions to these medicines we’re currently taking and that we’ll both get well after this medication.  Not only it is a hassle to drink as scheduled but more over, it’s such a pain in the wallet.  Thank God, the husband can reimburse this as part of their Medical benefits at work.  Which reminds me, I need to compile the RXs and receipts so he can file for a reimbursement soon.

Due For A Haircut

My hair has become unruly again these past few weeks and taking a peep at the mirror reminds me that I’m due for a hair cut one of these days.  It has grown longer and since my hair is naturally wavy, my hair ends seem to fly in every direction (read: fly away).  Visiting the salon is one of the things in my to do list next week.  I have to squeeze that in my schedule before we fly down south for a beach getaway.  I’m trying to recall the haircut that the stylist did to me the last time.  It surely isn’t “hydroxycut” because that pertains to diet pills and not a hair cut style.  Was that “wedge” or something?  Geez, I can’t even recall the stylist’s name.  What has happened to my memory?

Buy Gold Coins

For a first timer, investing in gold may be overwhelming because of the various terms and factors one must be acquainted of.  The term “gold bullion” refers to investment-grade gold and may be in the form of bars and coins.  With gold investment, a profit is earned similarly as in a buy and sell business.  You buy gold coins then sell it when prices improve. Investing in gold may appear difficult and overwhelming at first but equipping oneself with the right approach and technique will make the investment process easier and more profitable.  Again, it is such a profitable investment but only if the right approach is utilized.

“Colon” Terms

I got acquainted recently with the terms that has “colon” prefixed on them: colonoscopy and colonoxy.  Latest topics among my Twitter friends involved digestive tract problems.  A friend’s brother was rushed to the hospital last week and was admitted a couple of times already because of severe tummy ache.  Then another friend complains of frequent bloating.  Both were advised to undergo colonoscopy.  This procedure involves endoscopic examination of the colon with a fiber optic camera on a flexible tube through the anus.  Sounds very painful but anesthesia is administered first before the tube is inserted.

On the other hand, colonoxy is not a medical procedure nor an ailment but a colon cleanser that detoxifies and promote weight loss for healthier living.

My First Blog

It really gives me a different high after going over my past blog posts here and read about our yesteryears.  This is my first ever blog so most of my entries then were still truly personal and link free ().  I love how I blogged about our wedding preparations, the wedding day itself, our honeymoon, our adjustment period and my most favorite, of how I blogged and broke the news that we’re pregnant.  I also chronicled here my sentiments as a first time parent including my worries on how to produce more breast milk.  I just had to build and continue blogging then about my personal life in another blog for online business reasons, thus, I blogged here less since then.  But nevertheless, this blog remains special to me because this is my first.

Fashionable Nursing Scrubs

If you have recently been to a clinic or a hospital, you will notice that most nurses no longer wear the traditional white uniform (top, skirt, stockings with matching with shoes).  While they look more professional and formal in such, many hospitals and medical practitioners now opt to have their nurses wear nursing scrubs instead.  More than it being fashionable, nursing scrubs are more comfortable, hygienic, and easier to wear and put on especially in cases of emergencies.  Unlike the traditional skirt and top uniform which restricts the movement, scrubs in the form of loose tops and pants enables one to move freely and consequently make them work faster and more effectively.

Shopping for stylish nursing uniforms and scrubs isn’t really a tough task these days with the surfacing of online stores such as the BlueSkyScrubs.com that cater to providing the most fashionable and most practical nursing scrubs.  Browsing online is easy through their buyer-friendly catalog and safe and secured payment getway.  Those trendy scrubs are just a click away.

Gothic Wear in a Wedding?

Two college buddies recently got married. When I learned through their Facebook pictures that theirs was a rockstar/gothic wedding theme, I wasn’t surprised. Having known them to be musically inclined and so into rock music, it’s automatic and no questions asked that their theme will incorporate this common passion. The bride wore a dashing white gown with a black obi belt then completed it with a black chucks for his footwear. The groom on the other hand look so creepy yet handsome in his formal gothic wear. Then the male secondary sponsors wore unbuttoned coats with metal shirts underneath. So bizarre really but that’s them, expressing their love for their passion. The goth clothes they wore were a little bit off for an anti-goth person like me but I’m somehow appeased that they didn’t wear offensive shirts or those kinds in the ceremony. That would totally be disrespectful. For their souvenirs, they gave out a miniature doll couples wearing a rockstar clothing. I wonder if they ordered them from obscenitease.com because I saw those designs in the said online gothic shop. All in all, it was one fun and memorable wedding as I see in the pictures. Albeit I find their theme weird, I admire their creativity for being able to execute such an unusual theme in a tasteful manner.

What’s Wrong With The Microsim?

The next time we’ll go to UP Technohub, I’ll remember to bring and have my iPad checked.  I just noticed that it’s Globe microsim can’t be detected recently so I can’t surf the net even if it has enough load credits.  The wifi’s functioning well so I can still use it here at home but I could not when I’m else where.  Hope they’ll have it fixed otherwise, I’d feel bad about my decision preferring and buying it over an iPhone 4 (or even an iphone 3g).  The reason why the iPad won is because of its 3G feature which enables me to surf on the go and since my old, reliable phone is still working, a more expensive iPhone4 would be impractical.  But with a defective 3G now, can’t enjoy fully my tablet.

What are Krugerrands?

If you are an investor and was advised for the first time to go and try to Buy Gold Krugerrands, check out the website of the United States Gold Bureau and be enlightened of what this type of gold coin is all about.  In a nutshell, it is a gold coinage that comes from South Africa and first minted in 1967.  The Krugerrand coin is a low premium and more affordable one compared to the American Eagle coin.  Because of this, it has dominated the  low premium gold bullion coin market since it was introduced.  It has also become a top favorite by many investors and coin collectors.

Lurking a Friend’s Blog

I stumbled upon a long time friend’s blog recently and as it has also been a long time since we last seen and heard of each other, reading her blog makes me acquainted with the happenings in her life these past few years.  I’m reading her 2008 entries now and I still have a long way to read until the present but I’m not getting bored as I really am curious with how her life has been.  Hope one day we can meet again and catch up with each other’s lives personally.

Valentine’s Trivia

Valentine’s is definitely in the air.  Group coupon sites have been flooding my email with their alerts about varied interesting promos for this special occasion like discounted flower deliveries and dinner arrangements.  I’m sure lovers are on the lookout for such special deals so they can celebrate the day of hearts with their special someone without breaking their pockets.

Speaking of Valentines, do you know that British children in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries would put on their special occasion dresses and celebrate Valentine’s Day by going door-to-door singing songs and sometimes begging for cake or money?  This reminds me of children carolers during Christmas.

A Natural Goddess

So it’s just recently that I viewed the recent much talked about and controversial pre-nup video of the Beauty Queen-turned-Actress Maggie Wilson with her then fiance, Victor.  They got married last December.  I could say that it would really stir everyone’s curiosity and the steaming hot videos would really make the eyebrows of our conservative (predominantly Catholic) countrymen raised.  But I don’t want to join in the debate about morality anymore as I’m more taken aback by Maggie Wilson’s natural beauty!  I also the video of their December wedding in Misibis Bay, Albay and she was stunning.  I bet, a graduate from the best Arizona cosmetology school, the Regency Beauty Institute will agree with me when I say that makeup and cosmetics are barely needed because she’s naturally a goddess!

This blog post was based on information provided by Blogitive. For more information, please visit Blogitive.com or contact Regency Beauty Institute – 3583 Alpine Avenue NW – Walker, MI 49544

Do Not Hyphenate Kids’ Names

I’m not claiming that I’m an expert in the English language nor a perfect grammar guru, but sometimes it’s just surprising to see some educated people and even professionals (worse, they’re educators) getting confused on the basic and easiest rules.  One example is the use of hyphens in names.  You don’t put a hyphen in a kid’s name not unless your surname has one.  I have a former teacher before who has Igorot roots and her surname is Bumad-ong.  Other than this, hyphenated names in the Philippines are used only by married women professionals who choose not to drop their maiden surnames socially and in legal documents.  So when opening a Facebook account for your kids, do not ever hyphenate their names should you wish to include “brag” still your maiden surname.  It’s just way off.  You’re making it appear as if he got married and worse, he’s a boy.  Kaloka.  If the experts would see this, they’d desperately rush for the best acne treatment because of the zit-causing stress such instances bring.  Que horror.

Itchy Hives

For an hour now, I’ve been scratching my back, neck and some part of my face because of some itchy small hives looking bumps that appeared.  At first I thought they were just insect bites but checking them closely now, it looks like my first guess is wrong.  I don’t know if it’s some kind of zit that needs the best acne product or it could be something else like an allergy.  Hope it’s not that latter.  I think between the two, hives brought about an allergy is much more dangerous than insect bites or some skin impurities. For the mean time, there’s nothing better thing to do but observe.

Lion’s Head Park

I couldn’t say that I’m already 100% back to my regular programming (re: online routines) since I still have to take it all easy and light while I recuperate.  So pardon for my late posts as it’s just now that I’ve got a lax time and the mood to do so.  If you are subscribed to the feeds of all my blog posts, sorry for the “scattered” Holiday posts.  That’s the only way I can catch up on blogging about them and accomplishing my special tasks at the same time (kwim).

Anyway, before descending from the cool city of Baguio, the family couldn’t resist stopping by along Kennon Road at the Lion’s Head Landmark.  We stopped over and did what else, took pictures of us!

The Lion’s Head is a limestone rock formation built by the Lions Club Baguio Chapter that has seemingly become the “gate” of the City.  Many tourists stop by to have their pictures taken in this famous landmark and at the same time marvel at the wonderful greeneries of the mountains.  On descent, stopping by would be the tourist’s last chance to savor the cool city breeze where trees of pines and every kind of beautiful flora are sprawled (not sure if there are olive trees though).

When touring Baguio, it’s never considered complete without stopping over and have a picture taken at the Lion’s Head Park.

Imperfect

Authoring blogs that are more than my 10 fingers can count can really be tough.  Effective time management, fresh ideas and great writing skills must always be present.  However, I am a wife and a mom foremost so it’s not possible that I spend all of my day hours just tending my blogs.  So admittedly, I’m not a perfect blogger.  But despite the frequent absence of updates, I make sure that they are all presentable and loads fast.  Thanks to the impressive managed hosting services of my provider, my blogs rarely experience a downtime.  Whenever I have the free time, I also try to be in my best spirits and mood so that I’d be able to write worth reading posts.

Finally Together

I love hearing love stories in weddings that have unusual beginnings.  When I say unusual, they’re the ones that have weird setup, atypical arrangement or simply put, one that you wouldn’t expect they’d end up together.

I just saw from a former colleague’s Facebook the photos of her wedding recently.  It took place in the United States where her then fiance is domiciled.  They’re actually both Pinoys but their love story just started online and the long distance-slash-online relationship lasted for 10 years before they decided to finally get together (physically) and settle down.  It’s really amazing and admirable because many relationships fail with this kind of setup.

Their cyber wedding theme is cute.  The table centerpieces in the reception included miniature laptops, modems, routers, headphones and all other things that symbolize the internet.  Guess what, they even raffled off a netbook for the guests so just imagine how everyone was so thrilled and giddy.  But of course, the giddiest and happiest of them all was the couple who survived the odds of cyber and geographical distance and remained amazingly in love with each other still.

A Problem Drug

As a budding dermatologist, I am in constant search for treatment for common skin diseases that more or less causes psychological distress to patients.  An example of this is in treating acne vulgaris. A chronic skin disease that more often affects teenagers but in reality does not choose any age nor gender. The most besetting amongst all the different type of acne is the cystic type, one that forms big nodules filled with pus that often deforms one’s face. A treatment discovered for this disease is Accutane. A vitamin A derivative that works as an immunomodulator decreasing the capacity of the epidermis to multiply. This drug however is but a problem. In fact quite a number of Accutane lawsuit populates US courts these days.  The law firm of O’Hanlon, McCollum & Demerath have won numerous Accutane cases.

Too Early

A friend of ours is getting married next week and our circle of friends have organized a surprise bridal shower for her.  When I was informed that it’s gonna be this coming Sunday at Wensha Spa, I got excited because I’ve never been there.  I just got distracted when the invitation said that it’ll be at 6 am.  I thought it was just a typo error as I wouldn’t expect us soaking tubs and having a relaxing massage that early.  But a friend clarified later on that it’s an off-peak hour so it’s the perfect time to hold the party and accommodate us all.  So let’s see if I can make it or I will just follow to a friend’s house after lunch where the celebration will continue.
